How to adapt your mode of transport taking into account the characteristics of your shipment
The difficulty that artists and galleries encounter in relation to shipments is, in the first instance, the shipment of bulky packages.
Unlike a more "classic" e-tailer, the non-standardization of the size of the goods shipped can pose logistical difficulties. As a result, artists and galleries are often confronted with the management of "oversized" shipments, which means that they are shipments that exceed the standard dimensions of a carrier, and therefore, the carrier may refuse to accept them. In addition to artwork, Artsper has opened a catalog of design items that can be even more complicated to ship, so a suitable shipping method is necessary to ensure that the artwork travels without unpleasant surprises.
In the case of oversized packages, Upela intervenes to adapt the mode of transport to the artist's or gallery's problems. Our teams will then contact the carriers directly and make "spot" requests, which are requests for occasional shipments, with an adapted estimate that we communicate to the gallery owners. Upela is part of the Redspher group which has its own internal transport network to organize this type of shipment.

The second challenge gallery owners may face is organizing international shipments. Artsper connects professional galleries and art collectors around the world, and there are many shipping options and customs documentation requirements.
We assist Artsper's partners on which carrier to choose according to the final destination, the shipment follow-up, the customs documents, but also on the regulatory packaging to protect the artwork. For example, the customs documents to be provided if you are shipping a work of art for an exhibition will not be the same as for a sale. This is an unknown factor for artists who are starting to ship internationally, but it is a point that can waste a lot of time and on which we intervene as an accompanist.
