The TMS Transport Management System is a tool that allows a better control of your goods flows. The TMS is a useful tool when you are a professional who has to manage shipping flows on several destinations, but also with one or several carrier contracts.

What is a carrier contract?

These are transportation contracts negotiated by a company directly with a carrier. For example, you are a professional who sells and ships goods to one or more destinations, with the amount of shipments you make, the public shipping prices are high, so you need preferential rates. Depending on your shipment volume and flow, it is possible to negotiate preferential rates with a carrier to benefit from lower rates for your shipment flow.

Carrier contract: how does Upela intervene as a solution? 

Even if you have carrier contracts, there are several issues you may face, the first being:  

Do I get the best rates for my transport stream? 

You have negotiated your contract, you have rates that are more advantageous than the public prices, however, how do you know if you have the best rates? Integrating your carrier contract will allow you to compare your rates to those offered by Upela directly from the platform. 

When you negotiate a contract with a carrier, your rates are delimited by: the volume of shipment, the weight and the destination of your packages. Sometimes, it is possible that your offers are less advantageous than those of the Upela platform, or that for certain shipments, you do not have a suitable offer in your contract. Integrating your contract will then allow you to compare your offers with those of Upela, in order to have the widest possible choice and to find the best offer. 

If however, you wish to use the offers of your contract, this is possible even through Upela, you just have to select your offer and you will be able to order and follow your shipment from your Upela professional account. 

You have several contracts with carriers 

In this case, you have several contracts, you have one with DHL, one with Fedex or TNT, and you have to navigate between the different carriers' websites, manage delivery problems yourself, etc. Adding all your carrier contracts on the Upela platform, allows you to : 

• Centralize all your offers and contracts on a single platform 
• Generate all your slips from a single platform (even offers not negotiated by Upela)
• Track all your shipments from your account (even offers not negotiated by Upela)
• Compare all your offers to Upela's ones from your account 
• Have an after-sales management on all your shipments including those of your carrier contracts

How do I integrate my carrier contracts? 

To integrate your carrier contract(s) on your professional account, it's very simple, you just have to connect to your account:

• Go to the "My carrier contracts" tab

 

• Depending on the contract you wish to integrate, select "Add my contract"

 

• Complete the form with your contract information

 

• Account number: corresponds to your carrier account number
• Meter number: number provided by your carrier when requesting the carrier contract integration API key
• Key : API key to get from your carrier
• Password : corresponds to the password provided by your carrier to integrate your contract, be careful it is not your Upela password, nor the password of your carrier account. It is a word of the password of the API key, it is provided by the carrier when you make the request for the API key to integrate your carrier contract.
• Account country: country from which you ship available on your carrier contract

 

• Then, you just have to validate and all your offers will be directly available from the Upela comparator.
